Letter from the President regarding the 2020 season

Update from Martinez Little League:

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe and healthy. I wanted to update everyone on the 2020 baseball and softball season. As all of you are aware, the Shelter in Place has been extended through May 1st. We know you and your children want to get out and play baseball and softball, so do we. The memories made on the field are so important and irreplaceable.

With that being said, we plan on getting everyone together and taking of the ball fields as soon as we receive clearance from the State of California and the City of Martinez. Our goal is to have a 2020 Season, even if it is later this spring possibly running into the summer. This could put our season through the end of June, possibly into July.  We are also communicating with Little League International regarding post season play including Tournament of Champions and All Stars.

At this time, we are putting all of our normal, yearly activities on hold. This including Little League Oakland A’s Day, Hit A Thon and the Annual Dinner Dance. We are still in hopes to get the season in and if that happens, we would love to have all the extras as well, it would make the season fun for everyone.

We have heard from the picture company, their production is stopped at this time. Once we have an update, we will update everyone on pictures and how we will get them distributed to each family.

Most importantly we ask for your patients and please know we are working hard to make this season happen to provide another wonderful year of Little League for our community and their families.

Sincerely,
Phil Raines
Martinez Little League President
